You won't be able to power off the hosts if there are VMs running, so the order is the following:<br />
<br />
1.- Shut down VMs<br />
2.- Enter maintenance mode on the hosts<br />
3.- Power Off hosts<br />
<br />
If this order is not met, the system won't shut down, but if the power is cut off before all is shut down properly, it might lead to corruption (note: not on the ESXi hosts, since they run on Memory, but it could have impact on your VMs and VSAN).

Nothing, will happen, although there is always the risk of corruption because they have been shutdown dirty.<br />
<br />
and this comes, from experience and trying it.... why don't you!<br />
<br />
Just KILL the power!<br />
<br />
We also do it with LIVE running VMs, e.g. Exchange, AD, SQL, Oracle....<br />
<br />
vSANdatastore, is just like any other VMware datastore.<br />
<br />
We've never had any corruption, on any VMs, vSAN, VMFS datastore.<br />
<br />
But there is always a risk..... it could happen, so Best Practice, shutdown correctly....<br />
<br />
1. Shutdown VMs<br />
2. Enter maintenance mode.<br />
3. Shutdown Hosts<br />
<br />
All done cleanly.

You will then need to write scripts, and in your UPS software, if you have an Actions or Trigger function, you will need to call your own routines.<br />
<br />
Remember if you put your hosts into maintenance mode, and shut them down, you also have to exit Maintenance mode, and re-start, because otherwise no VMs will start!<br />
<br />
APC and Eaton have this function, built in their software.<br />
<br />
I thought you had a Live or Gigs for this project, was it not completed correctly ?

We use Eaton software, but we use it with Eaton UPS. I would have no idea what the issues would be with a non-Eaton UPS, unless SOCOMEC is a re-badged Eaton UPS.<br />
