You should ask Dell as they are the only ones who can reset it, if they will.

Contact Dell.

If you don't know the password for the HD, even Dell won't be able to help. Get a new HD and install the OS to it. Use the old one as a door-stopper, or as an ornament on the wall.

Rindi is right even Dell can not reset the password on the hard drive. computer bios passwords maybe but not hard drive passwords. Being a past employee of Dell support, when ever we got that question we told them they need to replace the drive when the password is forgotten. The purpose of the password on the hard drive is to protect the confidentiality of the data on the drive. If computer or laptop with a password enabled hard drive is stolen, it is impossible to access the data with out the correct hard drive password. Even if you removed the drive an put it into another computer or a hard drive docking station you still will not be able to access the drive.

Password can be reset, however, all the data will be lost.
