Server 2012 RDS Licensing

EE,

I'm pretty confused on how to go about purchasing terminal services aka RDS licenses. We actually need it just for the RDSH portion that VMware View uses to host applications, not desktops. We already have the RDSH View licenses and not sure how that ties in or if it saves us any money.

We only have 150 non roaming users that will be accessing multiple applications from their zero clients.

So just a guess, would I need 150 CALs only? And that would be in 6 25 user packages? I need to know in order to make the request to change management and the online docs were written by Microsoft lawyers apparently

Thanks

Why would I need more than one server CAL for one RDSH server? The 150 client CALs I understand.

Thanks for the help
There are server CAL's and RDP CAL's

Every user/device that connects directly or indirectly with a Windows Server Product require a Server CAL.
Every user/device that uses any Remote Desktop Services component directly or indirectly require a RDS CAL.

Server CAL's are a piece of paper i.e. a receipt.

So the RDP CAL gets used even though users using RDSH via View without even logging in?

The clients also use PCoIP, not RDP if that makes any difference?

And what do you mean piece of paper? It's not a physical license?

VMware, a software company founded in 1998, was one of the first commercially successful companies to offer x86 virtualization. The storage company EMC purchased VMware in 1994. Dell Technologies acquired EMC in 2016. VMware’s parent company is now Dell Technologies. VMware has many software products that run on desktops, Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS, which allows the virtualizing of the x86 architecture. Its enterprise software hypervisor for servers, VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi), is a bare-metal hypervisor that runs directly on the server hardware and does not require an additional underlying operating system.
