My colleagues in my Americas office have access to contact TAC..but they are too busy at the moment..So I wanted to know the steps.
You have to login and get the uc540_8.6.2 update package and local. Since you are on 12. You may gave to go through intermediate updates unless you want to recreate the config from scratch and possible lose info from the cue .......
are you on a UC540 or a Communications Manager server?
My mistake, posted the response in the wrong question.
From Cisco you need to get the phone related config pack for your call manager.

Use the link to locate the data and it will answer your question. The phones will not auto reset unless you update the firmware that will be pushed on the phones you have.
it will upgrade ALL firmwares for all models. And the phones will probably reset. My advice, and Cisco's advice, plan a maintenance window during off hours for optimal availability.
You cannot just add the firmware for the 8845s. You have to install the dev pack to accommodate new rows in the database.
