best Instant Messenger App for Apple
I'm looking for the perfect Instant Messenger App / chat client that will work for all Apple devices -- iMac, iPad, iPhone.
At the very least, I need yahoo messenger for all Apple devices. The yahoo messenger app for ipad really sucks -- it won't even do landscape. yahoo messenger also doesn't seem to work on the latest El Capitan OS

Could you help me send a message with my iphone 6, as a text message, from my yahoo account to another yahoo account? I don't want to send the message using my iphone's number

I got the following from an Apple community site:

That is not possible. The iPhone messages app with either connect to iMessage, a special connection with the Apple servers that uses data versus the cellular network, or an SMS, using your carrier's cellular network. It does not work as a generic messaging app. You would need to use the Yahoo messenger app.
So, I don't think imessage will do what I want it to do...

serialband -- I was going to try Adium, but my iMac warned me with the following:
“Adium” can’t be opened because the identity of the developer cannot be confirmed.
I can change my iMac's security preferences to force it to install, but I'm not sure its a good idea. I wonder why the identity of the developer can't be confirmed... You think its safe to install?
