Sleep function disappeared from Windows 8

I have had my Asus convertible tablet for over 2 years and just yesterday I lost both the sleep function and my built in wireless adapter.  I have restated several times and scanned for new hardware.  To no avail.  I even did a system restore to a few days ago.  Nothing shows up in device manager for the wireless adapter.  And the "show sleep" button is checked under power management.

I only mention the wireless adapter being missing as it happened at the same time.  I had used the computer in the morning at a client when the bluetooth locked up.  I was bale to finish and as usual put the computer to sleep. When I pulled it out later it had restarted with the sleep function, wireless adapter and bluetooth adapter missing.

It would appear the motherboard has developed a problem. Are the Wireless adapter and Bluetooth ONE card on your machine (they are two cards on my computer). IF one card, try replacing the card.

No, unfortunately, it is all one board, at least I think so.  This a tablet with a detachable keyboard.  There are no visible screws on the tablet portion.

I was hoping it wasn't a hardware failure.  Hopefully someone else may chime in with an other fix in a day or two.   If not I'll award you the points.  Thanks!
It seems a bit unrealistic to imagine that both the wireless section and the Bluetooth sections would fail at the same time and not be a hardware failure.
I was hoping for a software problem, but as John stated, it is likely hardware.
Most likely hardware. Good luck with the machine.
