"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

the best way is to move the files to another location after upload.

The sftp is a component of OpenSSH.
Disabling world/group readable from the permissions might prevent the download of files not owned by the user when dealing with transferring any (*) files in the directory.

I.e chmod 733 is a write only for group/world and would be permission set restrict .. No listing of contents...

If two separate users try to transfer a file identically name could run into issues where obe overwrites the other...

Ftps is much more manageable
