"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Personally I have an Acer C720, I've had it for 2 years and it's been great. Still boots very fast, the battery lasts 5-6 hours, depending on what I'm doing, the HDMI port is useful if you want "extended desktop", you can still store files on it, view photos etc.
It probably depends what you want to use it for really, but for web browsing, google drive? Remote Desktop etc, it works fine.

I'm curious what you want to use it for.  You know that it doesn't run Windows?  It uses the Chromium OS and Google Docs and Google everything else.

It is only for using google drive, google docs/sheets and printing to a network printer.  I will want to connect to a docking station and use 1 to 2 additional monitors as well as the laptop screen.

What are you looking for? Cheap? High quality? Big? Small? Longest battery life? Best performing?

Based on your requirements so far, I'm guessing cheap but with enough RAM to output to multiple monitors.

Sorry it took so long but I wanted to follow up.

For this case, we ended up not using Chrome Books.  As it turned out, we found too many issues where desktop apps were required.  I could find some work arounds via 3rd party apps that were just that, work arounds.

I think if your only need was to work in word processing, spredsheets, internet or web based email (I am not a fan of web based gmail), then this could be a good option.

The end result was the complete opposite, Instead of a cheap chromebook, went with the MS Surface Book Pro with 8gig RAM w GPU and 250 Gig HD.  Been working very nicely.
