link external excel workbook data to power pivot table in separate workbook? Possible?

Does anyone know if it is possible to link data in another excel workbook to a power pivot table in another workbook?

i.e when the excel data is updated so is the table in power pivot

If it is not possible can anyone suggest the most streamlined manual way of doing this?

Any links to tutorials etc. would be much appreciated..

Hi Mike - I don't know if I've misunderstood your question, but have a look at the attached zip.

Updating a value in the Pivot Input Data.XLSX spreadsheet, will then be reflected in the Pivot OutPut Data.XLSX spreadsheet when the pivot is refreshed.

If this is what you're looking for I would be happy to wlak you through how it's done

I'm not sure....

When I change a name in the input data it is not updating in the pivot table in the output sheet.

Also when I try to refresh the pivot in the output data I am getting the following error msg.

Can't open PivotTable source file 'C:\Users\RobMarr\Downloads\[Pivot Input Data.xlsx]Sheet1'

I also can't see a table when I open the Power Pivot window [manage]

I am trying to achieve the following: If I add or change a name in the input sheet it will automatically update the names in a data model table in the output sheet.
