VMware 5.5 will not add datastore

I have a super Micro Server with a LSI Raid controller. esxi 5.5 returns a error "hard disk are blank" and will not add datastore. After talking with VM and troubleshooting for days, they are now saying its because we are using 4k drives. The drives are in a raid 10 thru a LSI Avago 3108 controller. I understand VMware does not support 4k, but I thought the raid controller converted to 512e. If it does not do this automatically where can I change this setting?  Here is part of a log for esxi

Symptom: Unable to mount the LUN.
