ICA connections disconnecting before timeout interval

Hi everyone,

I'm currently running a 2008 R2 terminal server that has several users coming through connecting to published apps.  For the past few months, we have observed users getting disconnected well before the idle timeout.  For instance, a user may flip to a different screen to send an email and then 5 minutes later, they are disconnected.  I bumped the idle disconnect metric up to 20 minutes some time ago, so I know that's not the issue here.  Additionally, I created a whole new profile for one of the users, and again it reoccurred.

I haven't been able to identify anything concrete in the logs, so I was hoping there might just be something simple that I'm missing here.

*Also, these users in question are coming in from a remote location and are not physically oriented at my site.

Thanks

Make sure with the group policy on AD and citrix policy, looks like something with policy causing the issue. some time it may cause cause. Try to create in citrix policy and check for steps http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX127318

I will check, but I don't think that is it in this case.  We have other terminal servers under the same GPOs working fine.
So I went ahead and set the local GPO to leave idle sessions out there for 180 minutes and again, a user was kicked out after only 3 minutes.  At this point, I'm thinking the issue may be network related.  Would a Wireshark from the client be beneficial?
It sounds like you have a network issue.  Three minutes aligns exactly with Session Reliability, which buffers flaky network connections rather than falling into a disconnected state.

Wireshark can be way too much fun if you don't use it all the time.  Either by means of Director or HDX Monitor, it should be relatively easy to look at the user session when this happens to nail down whether this is a network issue.

Another suggestion is to call the user and have the user open the Citrix Connection Center and advise what it shows.

Thanks for the suggestions, I don't have direct access to the workstations, as they are at a client site.  That being said, I'm checking out the network aspect now.  Stay tuned...
Hello everyone, so I ended up getting a Wireshark trace from one of the impacted users.  Is there a specific footprint that I should be looking for?  I do see one reset in the trace, but it looks like it occurs following an SMB event.

Yes, the issue occurred during the trace.  As you know with Wireshark though, there is a ton of noise, so I'm just trying to narrow the scope a bit.
Ended up being the proxy.  The trace was very helpful in this regard.  Thank you all
