When connection via RDP with Win 10, font size is small

When connecting to an rdp session via windows 10, the font size is very small and I am not sure how to increase this so the font size is not so small..
Any ideas how I can change this?

Are you on a hi-res monitor (~4k) and have changed the DPI or zoom settings to enlarge font etc. display?
vmichAuthor Commented:
are you referring to my win 10 settings on my laptop?
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
In Windows RDP, More settings (bottom left) you can change the resolution which will change the font size in the session.

John,
The slider is already all the way to the left already  but the does nothing for the font size when connected to an rdp session. The fonts are still small.
Qlemo"Batchelor", Developer and EE Topic AdvisorCommented:
John, that is not correct. The resolution has no influence on the DPI and font size. At least for RDP to pre-W10 machines.

Yes, I mean your W10 machine. And are you connecting to W10 or prior OS?

My laptop has win 10 and I am using rdp to connect to other computers but as I mentioned the fonts are small when connecting to the other computers.
I found an article that said navigate to the system menu in your remote session window and select a zoom level under “Zoom”.  But cant seem to find this

I may not understand what you mean here.

The font size of a host machine does not affect the font size of the session within RDP. Can you change the font in the session?

When connected via rdp to other computers with win 10 laptop, all of the words and such appears smaller on the remote computers than if I use a computer with win 7 on it to connect via rdp to the same computers, all the print then shows normal size.

This is a known problem and MS is for whatever reason neglecting it. However, there's a free tool that helps: "change text size.exe" by Michael Stevelmans.
That works. Only problem: No longer online at the original source. I have it and could send it. If you like to look for it: here are the checksums.

I am connected right now to a Server 2012 via RDP on my Windows 10 host.

I can change the screen resolution in Server 2012 (guest) if I wish to, but that is all I can do. Fonts appear reasonable so I do not bother.
Qlemo"Batchelor", Developer and EE Topic AdvisorCommented:
Windows 10 scales different than W7. If you use RDP from W10 to something prior W8, zoom does not work. RDP data is shown with its original DPI settings, which might be really small if you have high resolution on your W10, and hence use zoom there to make everything larger. Again: You cannot use that with W7 etc.

You can try if the results are better with Remote Desktop Connection Manager, release 2.2 (not the recent 2.7) - if you get it from somewhere, that is. A valid download link might be hard to find ...

I've got it on stock too ...

Found out that the issue is only when connecting to rdp servers with 2008. If I connect to a 2012 server, the video is fine...
JohnBusiness Consultant (Owner)Commented:
I said above I have good luck with Server 2012 on my own Windows 10 machine.

As said - anything prior to W8 (= prior to W2012) will have that issue.
