Client walked into a store and had an announcement appear on his phone about specials, and it appeared automatically.  The store was "Raw Juice" in Boca Raton, Florida.

How does that type of communication work?  Does it require a special app, one that would be very common to mobile devices? Is it a common feature of something like the Facebook app, Twitter, or Instagram?

How to send a message/alert to a cell phone when customer enters store?

Notable features include a News Feed, Friends, a Wall, a Timeline, the Like button, Messages and an inbox, Notifications and Networks and groups.
