Exchange 2013 unresponsive after few hours of backup starting
We have a Win 2012 Exchange 2013 server in a 2 server DAG, which has become unresponsive 2 times.
On both occasions it has been on the weekend when the full backup runs.
It is a snapshot based backup and not application aware.
This time it was responding to to mapi connectivity but we could not remote desktop to the server.
Or connect to event viewer from another server.
Event logs do not show any major events.
How can I go about finding the root cause.

Snapshots are ok. But only after it has been backing up for few hours I see this issue. And it does not happen with every backup. It has only happened twice with a gap of 2 months in between.
what time is the backup, and if you move the Backup to a quiet time, with no other backups running, does it solve the issue.

this is what the backup application does.
either there is an issue with VMware Tools in the VM, you do have VMware installed ?
or your datastore is too slow, whilst Exchange VM is running on a snapshot.
