Unable to browse to certain file server directory

I have deployed Windows Server 2012 R2 that is now serving as file server.

However, some directory is unable to be opened ?

[Window Title]

[Main Instruction]
You have been denied permission to access this folder.

To gain access to this folder you will need to use the security tab.

I'm using the DOMAIN\Administrator account but still unable to open the directory, and when I right click on the Security permission, I got: Unable to display current owner.

Tree /F D:\directoryInQuestion result also not showing ?

why is this happening all in a sudden ?

I wear a lot of hats...

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Not sure why but as admin, you can take ownership of the folder yourself full control.

In the folder Properties...
Pick Security tab.
Advanced button.
Owner tab.
Edit button.
Pick the admin in the list.
Check "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects"
OK to return to Security tab.
If admin is not already in the Security tab, "Group or user names" list, Add the admin.
OK all the way out.

Yes that works.

But I have to do that manually one by one for each folder.

The question is why that happened ?
