Filemaker pro 10 field content not appearing
When I enter data on a layout I can see what I am typing. I have full access. When someone else enters data she can not see the contents of the field until she "Saves" the record. She has various privileges. Is that where I should look or is there some field control that is set and needs to be changed.
It's unclear exactly what it going on but you should definitely look at the privileges for whatever privilege set she is using. In most privilege settings a user is able to see whatever they enter in a record that they have created. Do you have the same experience when you log in as her? When you say "Saved", what is sufficient to allow her to see the data? Click out of a field into a non-field area? leaving the record and returning? click a "Save" button tied to some script?

I looked at permissions and could not find anything. I had another person with a different permission set try it. Linda(staff permissions), Robert (cataloging permissions) both have the same result. Clicking in an area outside the portal generates a pop-up window "do you want to save?" Choose yes and the fields' data appears. The table is Cataloging. Linda's permissions are broader than Robert's.

With it checked or not checked, Linda can not see the data until the record is saved.
With the box checked the save happens when she clicks outside the record. With the box not checked the window pops-up and ask if you want to save.

I finally got it. I had to create a layout based on the TO that I was using for the portal. Once I set it to save records automatically the portal did also.
Next question:
There is a required field in the portal based on the Bldg to Cataloging TO. If nothing is chosen from the drop-down list the Message(field data required) appears as it should but when you click the OK button you go to the previous tab/portal which is based on the same TO. Can I make it stay on the correct portal. The required field appears on both portals.
