I don't have A2003 loaded. &nbsp;Check all the start up options. &nbsp;I know there is one about opening the last database and that is still available but ULS was dropped 9 years ago and I have wiped all memory of it.<br />

Perhaps it is time to consider upgrading? &nbsp;In which case, you will need to make your own log in form anyway and you can make it work the way you want it to.

&quot;It doesn't work&quot; isn't very descriptive. &nbsp;Did you get an error message? &nbsp;Did it still try to open the app with the name of the last user who logged in? &nbsp;I think Gus was trying to pass an invalid user name to the workgroup to force it to prompt you for both.<br />

If that didn't work and you couldn't find a setting that controls it, you're probably out of luck. &nbsp;Although one more thing you might try is to open the workgroup from within the database. &nbsp;It might have useful options there. &nbsp;Again, I put ULS out of my head a decade ago so I don't remember what the workgroup &nbsp;wizard offers.

I can tell you that both methods are tested with Access 2.0, and as ULS hasn't changed by its core, it most likely should act the same with later versions. The first pops a blank username, the second pops with the specified (unknown) username (anonymous).<br />

I don't think you can control much more. With Access 2.0 the cursor is positioned in the &quot;user&quot; box, but if that is not so with A2003 there isn't much to do other than instruct the users.<br />

ULS was deprecated with A2007. &nbsp;So, even though newer versions will respect ULS in existing .mdb files, you can't convert them to .accdb. &nbsp;I'm not sure if you can create new .mdb's with ULS since I never tried to do it. &nbsp;There is simply no percentage in fighting city hall. &nbsp;ULS is gone. &nbsp;It is time to let go,
