>>   I don't want to reformat my laptop   <<  nobody wants that; but it seems the most easy, and maybe the only solution left for you

if you like - you can install on another disk drive a new OS -  then you're sure there is no hardware problem

also - when did this happen?   during updates, installing software, or just at boot time?

Hi,

In normal situations, the Automatic Error will check for the avialable issues and will fix it. But if this doesn't work, then you can run the Automatic Repair by booting the computer to Windows 8.1 installation/recovery disc and then it will fix the issue if the issue with any startup files required for Windows 8.1 to boot up.

Let me know if you need help with creating installation media for installation of Windows 8.1.

This happens after I installed software

I would like to know the start up repair I use and the recovery disc any differen??
For Windows 8 and the startup recovery tools are inbuilt. Boot into it and try to restore to system recovery point.

Hi All,

Thank you for reverting.

Press the Novo button no respond at all, with press and hold and double press.

Now I want to try the Refresh your pc but I get " The drive where Windows is installed is locked. I did the diskpart and need to made it a active partition but I doesn't know which to choose an I have recovery, system, oem, reserved, primary, primary and recovery 7 partitions.

Thanks !
Check what files you have on each partitions. You need to set one active which has BootMGR or EFI Boot files.
But have you tried restoring from system restore point? Each software installation creates such recovery point in Windows.
Hi,

Sry I don't know how to check on BootMGR or EFI Boot files on partitions.

As for the system restore, nothing is able to select instead ask to restart this computer, select an OS, and then select system restore.

Is there anyway to retrieve my all my CD keys, guess this need reformat.

Thanks!
I manage to boot up Novo button and select system recovery but ended getting "Lenovo Recovery System boot failed"

Thanks

i posted that above :
go to the download page, scroll down to the mirror section, and  click on a mirror to start the download
since the downloaded file is an ISO file, eg ubcd527.iso
Hi Nobus,

Thank you for the help.

No respond from usb stick with ubcd527.iso despite setting usb boot from bios.
try making a cd - and test it on a working pc
you can also test if the stick is ok by booting another system from it
I sent my laptop to service centre for repair, thank for all the help given.
