best practice ofr Marine Netowrk Infrastructure
Hi,
We are setting up a scope of work for the marine network infrastructure for a vessel having a speed of 512 Kbps VSAT connection and around 17 computers.
Would like to know what points should be considered for proposing a scope of work to the VSAT vendor
For example :
QOS for Voice
Separate VLAN for clients dedicated
Utilsation reports capability
..Need more inputs please

choose your provider everything else can be done via your local network. The problem with VSAT is latency and your upload speed. most important is latency. since each packet has to go from your ship to the satellite and back down to the provider and then onto the internet.. it may have to go satellite <> satellite.
