Workgroup in the network
Hi,
We have a domain setup in the office. Most of our pc are under the domain. There are a few pcs are not part of the domain. In order for those pcs to use the shared drive. I use \\192.168.xx.xx\shared and use the username and pawd for them to access the files. It works fine.
Recently, we purchased a new antivirus. When I tried to deploy them remotely. I need to gain access to those pc. I know the username and pwd for that pc, say, it is mypc\user1 and password is user1 as admin. I keep getting access denied when deploying the software. Any ideas? thanks

I will post back in the AM when I am in the office. But I did turn off the FW..thx
In the meantime, what is the name of the new A/V? Some vendors are getting so aggressive to prevent phishing attacks, they turn all connections off.

It is Kaspersky...
Also, the error code is 86...
The specified network password is not correct.
It is strange because I could use the password I entered to log on to that pc if I sit in front of it..thx

Thanks for the update and I was happy to help.
Look in the firewall settings of your new Anti Virus suite (or other like security settings) and make sure the work subnet is allowed access.
Open a command prompt: NET USE T: \\servername\folder and authenticate. What numerical error code do you get?
