Apple IDs

Why is it better to have two separate email accounts for installing apps unpaid and paid apps i.e. apple account and VPP account ?

Thanks

Makes sense. Yes I work for an educational institution so separate email addresses for free and paid apps seem the way to go.
Please remember that devices are connected to a single email account. So I'm thinking that the free apps are on the devices associated with the email accounts for free apps--- and the paid apps are on the devices associated with the email accounts for paid apps.

AFAIK, it is not possible to have the same device associated with two email accounts.
It is possible. I have an iPhone that I changed the phone number on and it wasn't updated correctly with the two factor authentication when the phone was swapped out for a repair and I have to use two different Apple ID's for my apps now. One for all the apps I bought before the swap and the one I had to setup for after the swap.

Now if an app that was downloaded before the swap took place needs to be updated, I have to sign in to the apple store on the device with the old account to update it. Kind of a hassle but worth it considering how much I spent on the apps.
@Zac Harris-
ah, I see - thanks for the info

Is it just me, or is the formatting menu missing in the comments section?
@Paul

It depends on what menu you are referring to. In mine I have these options (image attached) available to me on my computer. However these options are not present on the mobile comment section :(

yes - that's what I mean - but I'm on a desktop (Win10-Home 64b) and it dissappeared sometime this PM
I will use two Apple IDs also, but not among paid and free apps.

My reason is that the Apple has different apps stores for different countries/ regions and there are apps which are only available at certain countries /regions.

You can have multiple Apple IDs on a single iDevice. However, when an app has to be updated, it will prompt for the password of the Apple ID whicg authorize the install in the iDevice.
The only reason in your situation is that you do not want the VPP account admin to know what app you have downloaded with the said account.
So, let me clarify. This is an educational institution whereby any staff member can download free apps with one generic AppleID. However, in order to install purchased apps, this is confined to only a few staff, in this instance they would need a separate VPP account ?
