Certificate Key File
Hi,
I am trying to setup a Certificate in Alfresco for Digital Signature.
I requested for one and got one which i see under MMC Console.
Now when i go to Alfresco to import the key file , as shown in the screen shot below, it asks me to browse to the key file.
Where is it located for me to browse to it? also , is the "key password" something i create or is that also available some where?
Please let me know.
regards

If a certificate does not include the private key or it is marked as not exportable you cannot use that certificate for the keyfile :(
I am sorry but I suppose you will have to contact Alfresco for support on what certificates are needed. You may be able to create a self signed certificate similar to the Office Signature integration, but I have no idea if that is supported.
sorry

as shown in the screen shot attached to the original post Alfresco suggested X.509.
This is a trial version of Alfresco so there is not way to contact them.
also , if i proceed to the "next" screen without the private key, it gives me the options shown in the screen shot attached to this comment.
also, after check on the internet, few comments suggested that the key can be found in the properties or in the registry. i tried that but did not see anything in the properties. I see a big value for the key in registry but am not sure how to use it.

You could (if Alfresco suggests X.509, use a simple binary cert DER without private key) using the same export function, but I would not know if this will be the correct way of doing it or if we are looking at the right place. Other than that I am afraid that I cannot help you much further with this, I would not be comfortable advising you on exporting key entries from the registry without knowing if there is any risk attached in doing so.
At the same time I cannot imagine that a company would not give you pre-sales support for a trial version. In the end you could be likely spending a significant amount of money and if the support is not great you may not buy it altogether. I suggest you contact them and ask for one of the pre-sales agents to talk you through it.
hope it goes well

Auto close
I would imagine you need to export the key from your MMC cert store section. Right click on the certificate and select All tasks>Export. A dialog opens.
Select private key export. Click Next
Select all options apart from deleting the private key on the next screen. Click Next
Specify a password. Click Next
Select a file location and name using the Browse button. This is where your PFX file will be. Click Next
Click Finish
See if you can import that key file.
