Dropbox won't link to my computer--OS X 10.8.5

Attempting to get a file to sync between my work and home computers, I deleted my Mac computer from my Dropbox account. Now when I right click the grayed-out Dropbox icon in the menu bar, I get the message "Waiting to be linked to a Dropbox account," which keeps running. When I attempt to sign in, nothing happens.

I re-downloaded Dropbox, which is now in Applications, but which is equally unresponsive when I click on it.

How do I re-link Dropbox to my Mac?

Thanks.

Thanks, Quian Ba. Deleted program, reinstalled, but still can't link the application to my account. Same problem.  Don't know how to use Activity Monitor, as you suggest--can you explain?

Thanks.
Activity Monitor is located in Application/Utilities/

Seems like many people are having the same issue with linking Dropbox.

https://www.dropboxforum.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/206084666-Dropbox-won-t-open-waiting-to-be-linked-to-Dropbox-account-

There's a link inside that suggest the installation of a beta Dropbox and it apparently worked for many people. Try that process after a complete uninstallation (follow my previous post).
Downloaded the beta version and--success!

Thanks, Qian Bao!
One more question, if I may, Qian. There's still a syncing problem. A file added to Dropbox on my PC business computer doesn't appear in my Mac home Dropbox. Any ideas?

Thanks.
I believe this link will solve your problem.

Run the bad file checker on Dropbox's website.

The problem was mine for not having finally awarded qbao the necessary credit for his or her responses. My apologies. Yes, please close the exchange.

Thank you.
