Word 2013 has ruined comment balloons
We have used a master scheduling template since Word 2003. It depends on balloons that are actually balloons. Word 2013 has made this document unreadable. I have tried every configuration I can think of, but still no balloons. And these pseudo balloons are just lines to text that is overwriting information underneath it. File attached. So, two questions:
1. Can you get 2003 balloons in 2013?
2. If not, is there a free editor that has actual pop-up balloons that we can use instead of Word?
I tried Kingsoft Office, but they just mimic Microsoft.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

We need a calendar program that supports pop up balloons, then. Any thoughts?
I have not seen a calendar program that does precisely what you want. I suggest you look at Google Calendar to see if it gets close. You want mainstream and Google is mainstream so that you do not face this again. You may need to compromise.

Last question... do you know if you can install Word 2003 on a computer that has Office 20013? And run them both?

Thanks for the replies. The only solution which I found was to uninstall Word 2013 and reinstall the previous version. There are too many disadvantages to Word 2013, when the previous version works much better.

Word 2013 is an inferior product. Too many changes that ruin previous mission-critical documents. Going back to previous version
Thank you for the update and I was happy to assist you.
You could try adding balloons with SnagIt or some such but that would seem clunky to me
