I'm evaluating what are the tools that could do central management of &gt;1000 servers/VMs,<br />
specifically, this tool must be able to:<br />

a) by selecting a list of servers/VMs, this tool could remotely from a single central console,<br />
&nbsp; &nbsp; send OS commands to be executed to the managed servers: usually I'll issue a Windows<br />
&nbsp; &nbsp; command to list out the current patches to all Windows servers, or a Unix/Linux command<br />
&nbsp; &nbsp; to list out rpms (rpm -qa ...)<br />

b) be able to upload/download files to a list of selected servers (for the purpose of uploading<br />
&nbsp; &nbsp; patches, execute the rpm or msi/exe uploaded files &amp;&nbsp;once done, housekeep the uploaded<br />
&nbsp; &nbsp; files)<br />

One such tool is HP Server Automation but I need a few (including freewares).<br />

Tools suggested must meet audit/security standards, eg: while sending commands over or<br />
uploading, it must be in encrypted to prevent Man-In-THe_Middle), etc
