asked on

"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use" after virtualization...

Placed a user's XP PC into a new VM and now the network and video adapters all give me Code 12 (This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use) in the device manager and won't load. I tried removing some old hidden devices, but no dice. Any suggestions?

how much ram and disk space did you assign to the VM?

ASKER

4GB (it's 32-bit) and enough to accommodate the existing HD.
how did you convert and which hypervisor (esx/hyper-v/virtualbox/ vmwareworkstation)
Linux KVM. I simply took a disk image (Acronis) and applied the image to a new VM.

Maclean,

How do you remove the HAL layer?
Here is one way to change HAL layer, but a repair install is a safer bet.

I'm an idiot. It's not XP, it's Windows 7.
