I'm backing up my laptop and desktop data only. Documents, workbooks (XLSX), videos and MP3. I have about 1 TB on the desktop, 1 TB on laptop.
You probably want to have a good backup application. I use Sync Back Pro to keep large volumes of files current. There are other applications. Incremental backup will be faster than wholesale copy of 1 TB frequently.
