Moving PC based iTunes to iMac... with complications
I have a client with a huge (230 GB) iTunes collection on a PC (Windows 7). He's bought a new iMac. We want to move his collection, but here are the complications:
1. On the PC, his iTunes library.itl file is on his C drive. His music is on an external E-drive.
2. His collection consists of quite a few tracks that have been renamed. "Consolidate" apparently renames them back to original.
3. He has about 40 playlists.
I've read many articles online about transferring to iMac from PC, but cannot find any that deal with the 3 points I've made above.
Has anyone done anything like this? I've called Apple tech support but they don't seem to understand how to do it (other than just a standard move).
Thanks.

He can keep the music on the external drive too.

Thanks Edward, I've seen that article. I think the issue here is that his iTunes folder that contains his music does not contain his .itl file. So if the library from one location is moved to the iMac, and the .itl file from the other location is moved to the iMac, the .itl file on the iMac will not find the music, and if the playlists show up at all, they will be empty. Am I thinking of this the right way?
Also, since his external drive is currently formatted NTFS, it will be difficult (impossible?) for the iMac to write to the drive as new music is added. I thought once everything was working on the iMac, I'd format the drive from the iMac and move the collection back... but that's for another day!
