Xls protected worksheets - how to keep file copies protected
I have an xls workbook setup as a fill out form. Template worksheets are set to be protected so text and formatting can't be changed.
This xls will be copied and filled out for various projects. When you copy the file, the protected state disappears.
Is there a way to make is so the protection/password comes along with a copy? I swear I have done this year's ago, but cannot make it work now,
Thanks!

Have you added a protection password?

I protected the worksheet with a password. When I made a copy of the file, that worksheet had no protected password.
You need to change the file format to .xlsx.

It is an xlsx. Protection on the original works perfectly.
Do you copy the file or just the worksheet?
If just the worksheet, you need to re-enable the protection password.
If just the worksheet, you need to re-enable the protection password.

Copied the file to a new xlsx. Copying the worksheet within the same workbook keeps the protection and works fine.
I am creating an xlsx form to be used for various projects. Someone would make a copy of the entire file and fill out the I nfo for a new project. But I want to preserve the formatting and a lot if the text, protecting so people can't change the actual form. They should only be able to change project specific numbers.

Copied the file to a new xlsx. Do you mean using the file explorer to copy the file to another folder and change the file name afterwards?
Or you just create a new xlxs file and copy all worksheets to that new xlsx file?
Or your user copy the original file from you and create a new xlsx file and copy all worksheets into the new xlsx file?

Copy the xlsx using file explorer to another folder and changing the file name.
