Exchange 2007 Transport issues
I have Win Server 2008 with Exchange 2007. I have setup a Smarthost on port 587. For years this has been working just fine. However, just today I have this error:
The transport failed to connect to the server.
Of course, no emails are being sent.
Any suggestions? HELP!!!!

Hi,
have you contacted ISP, or who ever is owner of SmartHost? Usually when I had problems of that kinde, and I was using ISP as smarthost, it was on their side.
Have you tried with restart, if possible, either server or transport service..
AV problems, firewall, smarthost changed ip address?
Regards,
Ivan.

The transport database got corrupted:
To delete the specified database and corresponding transaction logs, follow these steps:
Verify that the Microsoft Exchange Transport service is stopped.
Delete the specified database files and the corresponding transaction log files. The database files and the transaction log files are described in the following list:
Mail.que or IpFiltering.edb The main database file
Trn.chk The checkpoint file
Trn*.log The transaction logs
Trnres*.jrs The reserved transaction logs that serve as placeholders
Temp.edb A sample database file that is used to verify the database schema. Although this is not a transaction log file, it is always kept with the transaction logs.
Start the Microsoft Exchange Transport service. If the message queue database or the Content Filtering database does not exist, a new, empty database is created. If the message queue database transaction logs or the Content Filtering database transaction logs do not exist, new logs are created.

Try to perform telnet on the smart-host IP & Port no see if you're able to connect it. If you have installed Antivirus on the Exchange server recently or made any changes try to disable it for 5 minutes & see if email flow is getting resumed.
