Windows Phone Cert Issue

We are looking to migrate from exchange 2007 on premise to O365 exchange online. We need to add a 3rd party ssl cert so that we can start the migration. When the ssl is installed and assigned the roles we find that windows phones stop email syncing, we have found that removing the email account and re-adding has worked but due to the large number of users this is not something that is not an option.

Has anyone else had this issue and how have they got around it?

any help would be appreicated.

Were you using a self signed certificate in the past? Or have you just changed your trusted SSL certificate. It shouldn't be required to reset the account, but you might have to remove the self signed SSL certificate if you were using one.

Yes, the previous one was a self signed from the exchange server.
Self signed certificates generated by Exchange are not supported for use with ActiveSync (or Outlook Anywhere).

You are into unchartered tertitory for me as I have never deployed Windows phone with self signed certificates (I always use trusted certificates).

That is probably the cause - get hold of a device that isn't working and remove the self signed certificate and see if that resolves the issue.

Simon.
