water damage to laptop

Hi

Is it possible for a motherboard to be "water damaged" even if no water/liquid is spilt on the laptop?

Thanks

Condensation, possibly. What is the issue you are having?
Maybe water was spilled on the laptop when you weren't there, or it could have been placed on a surface that was soaked so you wouldn't actually see how the water entered.

Why are you asking?
Surely you've answered your own question... how can the motherboard be damaged by something that hasn't touched it?

On the assumption that this question has been triggered by an engineer telling you your mother board is damaged, then how about steam, or other moisture vapour?

Bear in mind that moisture will short many connections on the motherboard and even steam droplets could do that given the compact nature of a PCB.
