One Drive for Business and Citrix enviroments
We are migrating users to the cloud and taking advantage One Drive for Business. Our users have migrated from the conventional Home Drive to now having a OneDrive location. My understanding is that the files are cached and synchronised to the cloud. However, I have implemented a Citrix farm recently which poses a problem. The users terminal services profile is roaming and needs to be as small as possible. Enabling OneDrive to sync all the users files to the profile is not an option. So the question is how do I achieve this?
My initial thoughts are:
1. They connect directly to the cloud for there files?
2. It syncs only the stub files and drags down the file when opened or saved?

You might also user folder redirection for the OneDrive folder. That way, the roaming profiles stay small and your clients can easily sync their data to the redirected folder without eating up diskspace from your citrix server(s).
Can you specifically redirect the OneDrive folder? Or do you mean to redirect Documents to the online OneDrive location? Would be interesting to see this done for RDSH environments.

You mean redirect the Citrix my docs to the users client machine in order to access docs? Is that a good idea?
Almost, but then redirect it to network storage, assuming you have enough left.

So you have to have desktop roaming profiles as well as TS?
Redirecting a folder is not the same as using a roaming profile. One does not require the other.

Im aware of the difference thank you. Our users are sync'ing OneDrive with the local my docs. Im aware we can use a network location for the same purpose, which would help, but it also defeats the point of having cloud storage. Your just duplicating.

I don't know whether this would be of use also - https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/OneDriveMapper-automaticall-d7d498b0
Looks promising thank you.

You said: but it also defeats the point of having cloud storage. Your just duplicating.
It's true that the documents would be duplicated to the server also, but that shouldn't be a problem right? What's the reason your users use OneDrive? To work with the documents at home or for backup purposes?

1.Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Active Directory Users and Computers.
2.In the console tree, right-click your domain, and then click Properties.
3.Click the Group Policy tab, click the GPO that you want to work with, and then click Edit.
4.Under User Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand System, and then click User Profiles.
5.In the Setting list, double-click Exclude directories in roaming profile, and then click Enabled.
6.In the Prevent the following directories from roaming with the profile box, type the appropriate folder names, separated by semicolons (;).
You can then have the Citrix users connect directly to the cloud to get OneDrive files. Make sure you also enable the "Delete cached copies of roaming profiles" GPO
You will also need to turn off local caching in OneDrive for the Citrix servers, I would have thought.
Cheers,
