Remote Desktop Connection
Where are the dynamic printer ports acquired from in Windows Server 2008, for Remote Desktop sessions?
Are you looking to print to a remote printer while in the session or to a local printer at the local location?

to Alicia W: I am asking because I have a user who is a member of the domain, has a desktop computer into which many people login. When my user does RDP to a particular server, the local printer (USB port) appears. But after he logs out, and another person logs in, the next time my user logs into the RDP session, the printer is no longer there. Note that everything else from the local machine is present at all times in the RDP session. Only the USB printer disappears.
We have pursued GPO, ports, local profiles, default profiles, registry, printer driver, etc.
Everyone else can print to the USB printer on the PC. For this particular user, and others who have done RDP, it is erratic: here today, gone tomorrow. Again, once we have been able to establish the printer on the RDP session, it stays UNTIL another person logs onto the PC.
