EMail Settings

Hello

Anyone using Win-Pak at work?  Trying to figure out how to properly set the email smtp servers and authentication in the email configuration settings of the System Defaults menu.

Maybe thats inconsequential.....

Basically, The EMail configuration I have a gmail account (using google apps) and an optonline account.  Under authentication box says  the following:

Under Sender Section:

Authentication Method - I can choose None, AUTH LOGIN, or LOGIN PLAIN
Username:
Password:

Under Mail Server Section:

HostName:
Port Number:

Then the Western Europe (ISO) encoding option

If i choose to press the Configure Email IDs... I have the following options:

From:
To:
Cc:
Bcc:

I dont care what the from address is, just as long as it works. Obviously going to my email address which is a google apps domain email, noone needs a Cc, or a Bcc....

Can someone assist me in making this work?

Are you trying to get Win-Pak to work? or Settings to work?

For the latter.

Authentication Method:  You probably need to set this. Almost all mail servers now require this. Use your google email and password.

Mail Server: You need the server addresses and port numbers both.

From, to, etc. Set to your requirements.

settings...

Ive tried everything I know

Trying to get winpak to send me an email notification when something happens.  I have it set to do so, i just need my server settings.  Ive tried many different things....none were right
Win-Pak is Honeywell control software and it looks pretty old (IE 5) . It may not allow the SSL and TLS standards common in email setups.

Can you post a screen shot of the input section.

User generated imageHeres the screen i need to input the data into

Username has an input box as well, its just covered by the authentication box
Please try again as nothing was attached. Click on Attach File lower left of the screen you are posting in.

The first one was inline...not sure why it didnt show up.  I see it on my end.
I see both now. As I noted, that is old software. It needs to associate TLS with port 587 or 465 to send. When that software was current, email was unsecured: Port 25.

ok, so what do i put in the boxes?  This is fairly new software.  This is WinPAK SE 4.0
Try: AUTH LOGIN and your email password
Mail Server: the Google smtp address
Port: 587

Misc. does not matter.

Email id is yours to fill in.

Beware that 587 needs to be accompanied with TLS and there is no input for that.
You can try 25 but today that will surely fail.

Nope....doesnt work
Email standards have superseded this software. That is why it is not working.

Have you contacted Honeywell?

Noone will talk to me because im the end user and my installer doesnt know how to do it
I am not sure what to say or what you can do. The software is not written to today's email standards.

can i fake it by using some old server somewhere that doesnt have all the requirements?  As i said, i dont care what email it comes from, i just need it to email me at any address
I have about 6 different email addresses and all of them use secured settings. Any server that did not would be inundated with spam. So there is not much you can do.
Try this:

http://www.serversmtp.com/en/smtp-settings

There may be some free SMTP servers you could try.

been there already.  I have a funny feeling that I need to have a corporate network for this to work properly.  I dont not have a mail server, as this is a standalone machine attached to my network.  Any way to fool the machine with software to make it think i have a mail server?
Any way to fool the machine with software to make it think i have a mail server?  Not really - you need a proper mail server and if the above will not work, you just may not be able to make Win-Pak do what you want in a modern world.

There has to be some sort of workaround for this.
No there does not have to be a workaround. You need secured ports and that tool will not handle it.
