Transferring website to another host
Hi, we have a non profit website and have been using hostgator for hosting and just today they took down access to our website for nonpayment but when we tried calling them they said they require the email and password for the account in order to update the billiing info but I have just take over the website duties fairly recently and the last person handling it doesnt remember the email password combo to access site. Doesnt make sense why it gator would make it so difficult to make a payment. Without the email and password we cant make a payment so a bit of catch 22. What would be the steps involved in moving our site to another hosting service and does it depend on whether we own the domain name or not? Obviously we have data on gator servers so we wouldnt have access to those if we move but all of the data is on the cloud as well so we could restore those to new host. Thanks.

Yes totally agree. Will give that a shot, thanks
Anytime. Just keep on them. You'll get it. And if you've been happy with the service, stay with them. Just remember if they protect the account that good, it'll be that much harder for someone else to gain access.

Was able to get the correct email address using the network solutions site you mentioned and the whois provided a wealth of information towards that end. Thanks for all the help
Glad to have been able to help.
