autorun.inf blocked by Symantec

I have Symantec v12 installed on my computer and whenever I try to copy from one drive to another the anti-virus is blocking my autorun.inf files. I looked all over and cannot find where I can disable that, can you please help?

Thanks

It is normal for Symantec to show it is blocking these files so USB drives with viruses cannot start. You would need to temporarily disable AV to copy and then re-enable.

ASKER

I did that and it's still blocking the files when I copy
Perhaps rename the file and then copy it. I generally do not need to copy an autorun file as it is always part of something else.
I'm copying Software from one drive to another to have a backup and I already have 7 instances where it blocked my autorun.inf files

I renamed the files, the thing is, the anti-virus should not block a file just because it might be a risk, but only when IT IS a risk, they should write their programs in a way that should not be inconvenient for me

Thanks
I understand your frustration, but I have been using Symantec for years and they have blocked autorun.inf files for a long time now. The risks are very high.

I do not have much need of copying auto run files and in the occasional instance I must, I just rename.
@Claude Constantinescu - Thanks and I was happy to work with you on this.

It is only my opinion, but I believe autorun and autoplay should be turned off on all computers for everything.  It is just too dangerous to leave those on.  Years ago I started using USB-Set to innoculate thumbdrives and prevent autorun.inf from being used as a vector for disseminating malware. (it creates a directory called autorun.inf with a hidden read only file in it. Panda has a good tool for this as well.
