It all depends where you are and if you have LTE or XLTE service. I use my Verizon phone as a hot spot, as long as I have LTE its pretty fast, sometimes faster than optimum wifi.
I have an iPhone 4s - 3G and about 5 Mbits/second top.
Newer iPhones have 4G.
I have a HUAWEI internet Stick 4G and good to 20 Mbits/sec or better both ways (up and down) (which is about as good as Wi-Fi)
It really depends on (a) what you have and (b) your willingness to spend more money on faster gear.
I find differences in speed correlate more with location and do not depend on supplier as a rule.

LTE or XLTE serviceare these keywords for all cell services?
I find differences in speed correlate more with location and do not depend on supplier as a rule.Have you used all providers?
Is there a comparison page?
Is this why companies advertise? Because there is no proof that one carrier is quicker than another.
tmobile and metropcs use same tower but "tmobile gets first primority".
So would tmobile be quicker than metropcs?
