wireless range extender help

need to replace a horrible range extender...

currently using a TP-LINK TL-WA855RE N300 that is driving me nuts (on a second one doing same as first)

constantly drops connection for no reason.  works fine for hours sometimes a day or 2 and drops.  tried all of supports fixes and keeps dropping connection.

i know range extenders as a whole arent the best fix in the world but for this location where i cant run wires nor move modem or router im extremely limited in getting a signal outside.

so anyway who's got one that i can just plug in and the dang thing keep working?  TIA

WDS might be a better choice. Does you main wireless unit support WDS?

Did you change IP address on range extender? Typically no one does and that of course creates problems since two devices have the same IP address and symptoms are usually the once you described. Is, also, DHCP turned off on one of the devices? :)

yes i did all the fixes, sep static ip, static channel, dhcp off, firmware is latest.   it just drops the connection (2 of them now).  and im not the only one having the issue

im done with tp-link.  was looking at the zyzel ac750 range extender as the replacement.  pretty good reviews from what i see.
I would still try WDS but if you want to stick to Range Extenders Belkin also makes a good one. I would look on Newegg's web page (www.newegg.com). They have user ratings on equipment that is invaluable.
I have bad experience with TP-link as extender/repeater too. I have excellent experience with Netis WF2409, however I implemented only two but I had no any problems for at least 3 months (and then I changed country where I live - so I lost contact).
never set up wds, research of problems with it always scared me.

main router is a nighthawk r7000
Here is a link to the Netgear Range Extenders on Newegg. There is no guarantee but you would sure think Netgear Ranger Extenders would work with Netgear routers.

He asked for suggestions and was given suggestions. All of the suggestions would have worked. The fact that he did not accept any of the suggestions and went with is own is moot. He was given accurate answers to his question.
