odd network issue connectiong/pinging
I've got a client with a very odd network issue.
A few months ago, a network printer/scanner used by a legal firm I service suddenly lost network scanning capabilities. It was determine that the TCP protocol could not be used to direct scans to a network share that it could up until that time, but FTP could successfully be used. Network printing to that printer was fine.
Now they have a new MFP printer, and I was having trouble setting it up on the network. These are the conditions of which I;m trying to make sense.
- In and of itself, any pc plugged into that port successfully gets onto the network and the internet, but cannot be pinged from the network
-The new printer is hard coded to IP 10.1.10.241 with 255.255.255.0 subnet and 10.1.10.1 gateway
- direct connection to pc to new printer via ethernet cable successfully browses to printer configuration page using the IP 10.1.10.241.
So I am not confused as to why a PC connected to that port can access the network resources without an issue, but cannot be pinged by other devices on the same network.
What would you recommend to further diagnose and identify the real issue?
Thanks!
Mark
