Need to upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional, but AnyTime upgrade discontinued

I have a user that needs to upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional, but it appears the Windows 7 Anytime upgrade has been disabled.  Any idea of how to do an nice/easy in-place upgrade?

Thanks very much.

You should still be able to upgrade with a Win 7 Pro disc and license.

ASKER

Would that do an in-place upgrade though?

I'm going to give those suggestions a shot.  It now looks like i won't be able to do this for about 2 weeks unfortunately due to the client being out of town.  I'll check back in once I've gotten the chance to try it out
Another option you could consider is to upgrade to Windows 10 Home now (remember, the free upgrade offer will only be valid until the 29th of July). and then upgrade that to the pro version.
I want to stick with Windows 7 if possible.  I'll let you guys know in a few weeks how it goes
Something to think about, Windows 10 for free ends July 29. You must download and install it / or reserve it by then. You can always upgrade to Windows 10 and use your downgrade rights to go back to Windows 7. http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/8/9/68964284-864d-4a6d-aed9-f2c1f8f23e14/downgrade_rights.pdf
How to upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional

What you need
(1) A working PC running Windows 7 Home Premium
(2) A Windows 7 Professional license key ( don't need the installation DVD, just the key )

This procedure takes 10-15 minutes.  No software installation needed, Windows 7 Home Premium has all the files needed to go to Windows 7 Pro.

How to do this
(0) Disconnect from the internet. - pull the Ethernet cable and disble Wifi.
(1) Go to start, run, type in "Anytime", choose "Anytime Upgrade"
(2) Enter the Windows 7 Pro Anytime Upgrade Key - VTDC3-WM7HP-?????-?????-?????  ( search the internet for the last 3 parts - this key has been used 50,321,322 times so you will not be able to activate Windows with it.
(3) Let the upgrade run, this should take 10-15 minutes.  when done you have a fully functional Windows 7 Pro with all of your programs intact.  Now, re-enable your internet connection.
(4) Right click on My Computer, Properties, on the bottom, notice you have 30 days to activate Windows, click Change Product key, and enter your LEGIT Windows 7 Professional key.

This is a hack/workaround.  However it is NOT illegal.  You must have a legitimate Windows 7 Professional key to complete the activation.
@PCLANVADWPB

The problem is that you cannot get a legit "Windows 7 Professional license key" and you will never know whether the key is valid until you try it.

It is better to backup the system image before trying the above procedure.
I just entered a valid Windows 7 Pro product key and that allowed me to perform an in-place upgrade.  Thanks guys.
Glad you are up and running!
