Windows 2003 was released on 4 Apr 2003<br />
Windows 2003 R2 was released on 6 Dec 2005 (Print Mgmt, DFS, RDC, Storage, virtualisation updates)<br />
Windows 2008 was released on 4 Feb 2008<br />
Windows 2008 R2 was released on 22 Oct 2009 (ADDS, virutualisation, IIS 7.5 etc, more cpus etc).
