Compatibility MOVEX 10A on V6R1

What makes you ask? Are you experiencing a problem with MOVEX 10 on V6R1? If so, what exactly are you experiencing?

I'm actually running 2 systems(prod & backup) iseries 800(Proc feat 7408) with V5R2 and MOVEX 10A on the prod one.
Since:

• we have plans to increase the activities(additional users) on the prod system

• IBM increase cost of hardware maintenance due to poor spare stock for this old system

• we don't have plan for new ERP so far

...i would like to buy a more recent (refurbished) server (that support V6R1) in order to run my prod environment.

My plan is to install the V6R1 on my backup system and test if MOVEX 10A run well, if ok, buy a more recent server with V6R1 to run it as my prod.
So before mess up with my backup server i was wondering if it would make sense or not.

How are you intending to obtain a license for IBM i 6.1? It went out of support some six months ago.

But assuming that you mean MOVE, MOVEA and MOVEL, all are supported on IBM i 6.1 and later as long as you don't try to use them in free-form code.

I'm currently dealing with different IBM provider in order to get a license without support. Due to our current and old OS we no longer work with IBM for soft support.

I'm in Vietnam, but contact provider in HK, SGP, and AUS.
I can get a 70 days trial license for the MOVEX test with 6.1 on my backup server.
Once passed, I just need to found refurbished server sold with 6.1 lic, but yes that maybe the trickiest part.
Will post the result after the test.

If you can't get i 6.1, then i 7.1 should be a better choice.
