Virus stealing from Paypal via Chrome

hi,

A virus recently stole about USD2000 from my paypal, i noticed the same day and got the money back. It was from a second PC I don't use much and was "protected" only by AVG-free.

I noticed as there were transactions occurring on the screen in Chrome browser. I immedately powered the machine off (from the power button 4 seconds) and went onto my usual pc to investigate. A series of mostly USD100 transfers had been placed, with some purchases. Presumably my paypal password was saved on Chrome, and I was logged in (note not to save passwords in Chrome!)

As a precaution I reset all key passwords on several online accounts.

Later i turned off the internet and rebooted the infected PC and ran a scan, 6 threats were detected but only amber rated.  Then i turned on the internet to update the scan and nothing new came up.

What other precautions would you recommend?

Thanks

Thanks for your suggestions. As it's an old laptop with everything already backed up i.ll probably format it.
