Which version of OS X do you have? They were changing things around in recent versions.
ASKER
OS X El capitan
10.11.4
10.11.4
10.11.4 should have the mDNSResponder process somewhere.

Also i dont see any mDNS..process running in my Activity monitor.
Tried clearing the cache of the firefox browser.
Even then when i open a new website on firefox and check the url timings in firebug. It shows time taken for DNS is 0 ms.
That means its still picking up from cache. and cache is not cleared either at firefox level or at OS level
