I'll definitely take a look at Cloudflare. I also have domains scattered around a couple registrars. No plan to change registrars just to move our DNS records somewhere else when our contract with the 'colo' is done.<br />

We're in the process of changing our 'colo' providers and since they are the host of our DNS records, I need to migrate those too. My first choice is Godaddy since that's where we host our domains. That's not set in stone but it seems like it would work fine. I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on how to proceed in order to have a smooth transition when the time comes to migrate DNS. Do I initiate the transfer at the current host or through Godaddy? Any other insight would be greatly appreciated.<br />

DNS records transfer

The Domain Name System (DNS) is a hierarchical, globally distributed system responsible for associating the name of a computer, service or other resource into an IP address for connecting to the Internet or a private network. Most prominently, it translates domain names to the numerical IP addresses needed for the purpose of computer services and devices worldwide.

A Web service is a method of communication between two electronic devices over a network. It is a software function provided at a network address over the Web with the service always on as in the concept of utility computing. A web service has an interface described in Web Services Description Language (WSDL). Other systems interact with the Web service in a manner prescribed by its description using SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) messages. There are two major classes of Web services: REST-compliant web services, and Arbitrary web services.

The Internet Protocol (IP) is the principal communications protocol in the Internet protocol suite for relaying datagrams across network boundaries, organized in abstraction layers, traditionally called "Link," "Internet," "Transport" and "Application”. Its routing function enables internetworking, and essentially establishes the Internet. IP defines packet structures that encapsulate the data to be delivered. It also defines addressing methods that are used to label the datagram with source and destination information.
