NetBIOS over TCP/IP

Dear experts, do you recommends to disable BetBIOS over TCP/IP and WHY?

Out networks:
1, Windows Server 2012 with DHCP role, clients Windows 10.
2, Windows Server 2008 with DHCP role, clients Windows 7.

And if yes, how to do it?

Regards,
Jarda

Even if we do not use older SW? I'm going to tune-up File server performance...

I have heard people say that about WINS. "We don't have any software that requires it". I don't think you will gain any performance but what the heck. It is just a radio button. Disable it and see what happens :)

Once again a lot of it depends on the software you use. If you use "default" it will "Use NetBIOS setting from the DHCP server. If static IP address is used or the DHCP server does not provide NetBIOS setting, enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP".
I just disabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP on the server's NIC and also disabled NetBIOS over TCP/IP on the DHCP server.
I'll see what happen and let you know.

There you go. It's just a radio button.....
Also, using the Default Setting in Windows Explorer in Windows 10 against Server 2012 will show both WSD devices and NETBIOS devices. Nothing lost.
