windows server 2003
I am trying to demote windows server 2003 from the domain, it is just a member server.
but it has mapped folder and mapped drives and some group policy
so any way I can remove them before I demote, so that users wont be affected.

You don't demote a member server and the Group Policies aren't really on it. They are on the PDC. About all you need to do is copy the data over that you want to save and remap it from where you copied it to.
