Are you using Exchange or syncing with a Cloud service such as Gmail? Also, have you tried using the search feature on the mailbox. I have seen these types of messages in up in the Junk folder due to Outlook thinking it is some type of spoof.

If the user is just sending an email to themselves and not someone else (as a reminder, taking notes, or storage kind of thing) then you could also suggest they craft the email and simply save it as a draft. Then they can move the email into whatever folder they want (or leave it there).

Just to add some more info:<br />

<li>Yes we are using Exchange(2013)</li>
<li>The reason why it needs to work, is that we have a scan to email function on our copier and the copier sends the scan from the email address of the user carrying out the scan</li>
<li>Outlook 2013 is being used, but bear in mind other users are using 2013 and are able to send emails to themselves</li>
