Puzzle: Need a database of all military battles on American soil

I never expected this to be so difficult.

I need a database (in any form) listing the following:

Date
CountryAttacking
CountryAttacked
Location
War
NumberKilled
NumberWounded

I need this in TXT, CSV or Excel or any other format. I do not need web pages if dates that I need to read. But I could consider screen scraping...as a lot resort.

Any links to this?

This is a bit of a puzzle ;P

Thanks

Paul,

That really is a nice website, but I do need a database. The reason I do not want to create my own is that I want the conclusion of my  white paper to be easy  to verify.

If I build the underlying database, no one will bother certifying the conclusions of the white paper.

It's the old "fox guarding the chicken coop" problem. But if I used a database from another source, my approach automatically gets one check-mark. I will publish  the SQL and builds the foundation for my arguments.

That's why I need existing data...

I was just granted access to a huge database, which is free until I want to sell my white paper, which I just will not do.

Thanks for all the help!
This is a research project.  You might be able to find a grad student who needs to work over the summer months, and you could hire them for the task.  Or you might consider posting it in E-E Gigs.

The changing nature of war in the 21st century may make "country" a bit of a challenge.  For example, what country attacked America on 9-11?  What country did America attack in killing Bin Laden?  In any case, bring a good budget and you will probably be able to get someone to reduce the history books down to the format and content you want.

Does "American soil" mean U.S.A. or also the rest of the Americas? If it happened between the Republic of Texas and Mexico, was it still on "American soil" even if none of it was part of the "U.S.A." at the time? Was the burning of York (now Toronto), Ontario, by U.S. forces something that should be included?
